I came across an Australian researcher that made me re-examine one of my understandings of learning. I have always felt it was more important to demonstrate expert problem solving techniques rather than present worked out examples. John Sweller of the University of New South Wales has developed the Cognitive load theory that suggests partly worked out examples are better. Thanks to social computing and ubiquitous computing problem solvers seldom have to take full and sole responsibility for problem solving. I still think that some will perform better solo and that solo thinking is a skill that should not be allowed to atrophy.

Sorry I missed the presentation on Saturday. It sounds like it was very informative. I was busy shoveling out etc.

I hope that any other relevant learning from the session can be shared here!
